TNC Update: Uber May Exit Hawaii, Launch in Huntsville, Ala.

<p>Uber may exit Hawaii if regulations enacted.</p>

The city council of Huntsville, Ala. unanimously approved amendments to its transportation code, opening the door for TNCs to begin operation. Read Tech Alabama article.

In Hawaii, Uber officials say the company might be forced to close on Oahu if a bill passes that would regulate its drivers like taxi drivers, affecting about 3,500 independent drivers. Read Hawaii News Now article.

In Florida, a bill that would give Hillsborough County exclusive control over regulating TNCs was reported favorably by the House Economic Affairs Committee — but may be nullified by another bill approved by the House that would pre-empt local governance. Read Tampa Tribune article.
