At UMA Expo press conference (L to R): Tim Vaught (CH Bus Sales), Osman Dundar (Temsa Global), Mehmet Pekarun (Temsa Global), Duane Geiger (CH Bus Sales), Shannon Kaser (Royal Excursion), Robert Foley (CH Bus Sales), Randy Angell (CH Bus Sales), Deniz Cetin (Temsa Global), Dincer Celik (Temsa Global), Ibrahim Eserce (Temsa Global).
ATLANTA — Temsa Global and its U.S. distributor, CH Bus Sales, introduced the newly enhanced TS 35E mid-sized coach on Feb. 2 during the United Motorcoach Association Expo in Atlanta. The first order of the bus was then presented to Royal Excursion of South Bend, Ind.

The vehicle structure and main components remain intact on the new TS 35E version, but it now has improved service accessibility, improved driver ergonomics, and enhanced curb appeal.

Ibrahim Eserce, R&D and after-sales services director at Temsa, described the enhancements on the TS 35E coach that include: an updated and modern look to the front face and rear door, new styling in the entryway with added LED tread lighting on the steps, new overhead reading lights, and enclosed parcel racks. Driver ergonomics is improved with an enlarged driver area (increased by four-in.), updated ergonomic buttons, and an updated dashboard cover. Improving the serviceability of the coach was a large factor in the vehicle enhancement and is accomplished with a three-piece front bumper, three-piece rear engine door, stacked alternators, and 315 size tires.

A Temsa product committee played an important role in understanding the wants and needs of the operators and accomplishing those objectives in the enhanced design, said Tim Vaught, VP of sales, service and product development, during a press conference at the Expo. The product committee is made up of not only CH Bus and Temsa representatives, but also Temsa operators.

Leading the press event, Robert Foley, President and CEO of CH Bus Sales, spoke about the company’s competitive advantage in the mid-sized market with the best-selling TS 35 model. In fact, the company will be delivering its 500th TS 35 this spring.

The new TS 35E model “exemplifies the tremendous success we’ve had with the 35-ft. coach and our new E will be able to provide the same advantages it is known for, but with some more modern enhancements and upgrades,” Foley said.

Since Temsa entered the market in 2010, it has reached about a 10% market share. Temsa CEO Dincer Celik attributed Temsa’s success in the U.S. market to the company’s “capability of showing the required flexibility, together with the technological developments towards the needs of the customers.”

In response to industry trends, Temsa and CH Bus Sales present a wide product range to the chauffeured transportation and motorcoach market with three different size coaches ranging from 30 to 56 seats (TS 30, TS 35 and TS 45). Today, there are 700 Temsa models in the U.S. that run to about 200 operators, Celik added.

Since its first bus production in 1987, Adana, Turkey-based Temsa’s annual production capacity at the Adana factory totals 2,000 buses, 2,000 minibuses and 7,500 light trucks with exports to 64 different countries. Temsa is owned by a holding company, The Sabanci Group.

In closing, Duane Geiger, executive vice president of CH Bus Sales, recognized Shannon Kaser, owner and President of Royal Excursion, for taking the first order of the TS 35E coach. Royal Excursion of South Bend, Ind., offers a variety of transportation services including wedding parties, sports events travel, school field trips, and corporate events.

The company was named among the 2013 Indiana Companies to Watch and has been operating as a locally owned and operated transportation company since 1998.

“The success we’ve had with the other TS 35 and TS 45 Temsa models and the great support from CH Bus Sales on the after-sales side,” Kaser said. Royal Excursion will now have five Temsa vehicles within its fleet, threeTS 35 mid-size coaches, including the E model, and two TS 45 full-size coaches.

CH Bus Sales and Temsa executives, along with the conference attendees, raised a glass to the newly enhanced TS 35E coach and anticipated deliveries will begin in May.
