Lincoln Revives Legacy Brand For Livery Service

The redesigned 2017 Lincoln Continental luxury sedan possesses bountiful charms and attributes pleasing to livery clients.
DETROIT — The Lincoln Motor Company adds a new luxury sedan flagship to its diverse limousine fleet line-up with the prestigious 2017 Lincoln-Continental, a modernized version of the legacy vehicle inaugurated in 1939.

The 2017 Lincoln-Continental, livery edition, set to hit dealerships this fall, will be available in sedan form only. Stretch limousines will continue to be built off the Lincoln MKT Town Car under Ford’s Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) program.

The latest Continental is the fourth generation of the distinguished American nameplate and brand, which Ford-Lincoln produced in various models from 1939-1948, 1956-1980, and 1981-2002.

Livery marketing program manager Craig Hall sits comfortably in the new 2017 Lincoln-Continental — with plenty of legroom to spare.
The newest Lincoln-Continental will offer a longer wheelbase than the current MKS sedan, affording more rear seat legroom for chauffeured clients, and a host of advanced technological and comfort amenities throughout.

“The Continental has been designed with the comfort of the rear seat passengers in mind,” said Craig Hall, Lincoln Limo/Livery Manager. “Besides a streamlined interior that provides generous rear legroom, the optional livery equipment package has rear seat features such as a passenger seat chauffeur front/back adjust control switch, power rear seat recliner, a 110V outlet, heated and cooled seats, two smart charging USB ports, rear-door and rear window sunshades, plus a rear-seat armrest with storage and controls for climate and audio. Additionally, there is also a standard hands free, foot activated trunk lid to aid chauffeurs getting the passenger’s luggage into and out of the car.”

Ford/Lincoln Limousine & Livery Vehicles will officially debut the Lincoln-Continental at their exhibit on the trade show floor of the International LCT Show, Feb. 29-March 2, in the Mandalay Bay convention center in Las Vegas. Thousands of operators and attendees from around the world will get a first up-close look at this year’s headliner fleet vehicle.

The full-size sedan, to be produced at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan, is designed to appeal to culturally progressive clients who define luxury on their own terms — craving superior quality, craftsmanship and safety, Lincoln said in a press release.

“The Continental name has long been associated with the ultimate in Lincoln beauty and luxury,” Lincoln President Kumar Galhotra said. “With the all-new model, we are focusing on creating more human, personally tailored experiences for our clients — providing what we call quiet luxury.”

Hall outlined some features and specs of interest to operators that will define the livery version of the 2017 Lincoln-Continental:

• It will be based off Premiere Series trim and come equipped with a standard 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 with 305 hp and 280 ft.lbs. of torque coupled with six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.
• The all-new, modern design has Lincoln’s new signature grille and an athletic, dynamic profile.
• A brand-exclusive lighting sequence. As the driver approaches the car with the key, LED signature lighting in the lower front facia and tail lamps subtly engage, while signature lighting in the headlamps awakens in a fluid motion. Lincoln mat lights then brighten the pavement around the front doors, helping show any hazards, while select interior lights illuminate the cabin.
• Available adaptive steering helps optimize response, enabling the vehicle to react more smoothly and precisely to driver input.
• Innovations in managing vehicle noise and vibration, including Active Noise Control and acoustic laminated glass create a quiet, comfortable environment good for client conversations and/or solitude with electronic devices.
• Seat stitching specified at six to seven stitches per inch for a couture-like appearance; slats of the center console door are laser-cut to maximize consistency of the grain pattern.
• Available in front-wheel (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The AWD system is paired with Dynamic Torque Vectoring that transfers torque on demand to the appropriate rear wheel when driving through corners, providing confident handling and stability.
• The special Livery Package (500A) contains equipment specific to the limousine industry. An optional livery technology package includes features such as an auto-dimming rear view mirror, BLIS (Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert), and a lane keeping aid.
