The deal to buy black car service Tandem Technologies from transport operator Transdev will see the launch of the Addison Lee brand in the states for the first time, as it targets a share of the $2bn a year industry in the city.

The cab company backed by private equity firm Carlyle already operates the chauffeur service Flyte Tyme Worldwide Transportation based in Mahwah, N.J., which it acquired earlier this year, and Tristar Worldwide Chauffeured Services, based in Boston and London, U.K., which it bought in 2016, generating $100 million in revenues between them nationwide.
