Shanker resigned as President, which he held since January 2015, after leaving Princeton-based A-1 Limousine to accept a general manager’s position with RMA Worldwide Chauffeured Transportation, Rockville, Md.
“LANJ is a growing and vibrant association and Jeff Shanker has done a remarkable job representing the interests of its members,” said Sharenow, who served as first vice president and has been on the board since 2004.
Sharenow started Broadway Elite in 1998 and merged with Elite Limousine in 2008. The 17-year industry veteran also is a part-time lieutenant with the Livingston Police Department in Essex County and volunteers as an EMT with the Livingston First Aid Squad.
On taking on leadership of LANJ, Sharenow said, “We have some of the industry’s heavyweights on the board and as members that have deep experience and knowledge of the industry which makes my job easier working with such professionals.”
Noting that LANJ has increased its membership, Sharenow said his goal is to continue to move the association forward, He said the association’s membership has increase close to 40% in the last few years and thanked both Jeff and the board, and especially executive director Patty Nelson, for working hard to increase membership.
“The job is a lot of work, especially on the legislative side, but the board is there to help me, and we intend to continue to grow and serve the operators of New Jersey.”
