“I’ve always had to tell people outside of our industry that the WFLA is the West Florida Limousine Association rather than ‘Livery’ because most people do not know what that word means,” said Jeremy Jenkins, the WFLA’s re-elected president. “We officially changed the name to West Florida Limousine Association.”

In addition to the name change, the WFLA board also acquired wfla.org as the association’s new domain name under the direction of vendor board director Ryan Hilberth, the CEO of Rental Limo and Book.limo. “At our last meeting, we did a quick poll to see how many of our members knew the existing URL for the WFLA and the results were disappointing,” Hilberth said. “As such, we decided that we needed a more memorable domain name that would elevate the WFLA as we re-brand.”

The new name and website follow recent elections for the WFLA’s board of directors, which features a cast of familiar and new faces. Re-elected board members include: Jenkins of His & Hers Limousines of Pinellas Park as the returning president; David Morris as VP re-elect; Blaze Basevic as treasurer re-elect; and Gregg Moulton as director re-elect.

New board additions include: Justin Nystedt of Crowd Pleaser Limos in Apollo Beach as the new WFLA secretary; and Hilberth, who joins Matt Clemens of PIC Insurance of Tampa as a second non-voting vendor board member. Soon after announcing the new board, the group identified several issues to pursue from their March meeting agenda.

On March 29, the Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission voted unanimously in favor of reducing local limo permits by 90% for all operators including full refunds for those who already paid. “This is a huge victory for us and we’ve waited a long time to level the playing field by getting this to go through,” Jenkins said. The HCPTC board also voted to allow for controlled surge pricing for special events including airport rides, sports games, and concerts.

Following the acquisition of a new domain name, the group also plans to redesign its logo to reflect the name change, and redesign the website in the near future. “Now that we have the right domain name, our association will prevail and our members will reap the benefits,” Nystedt said.

The next West Florida Limousine Association meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17. Information: wfla.org.
