Operator Finds Path To Stress-Free Affiliating

SAN JOSE, Calif. — When you’ve been around since 1990, you learn a thing or two about providing top notch service. Like other companies, Skylark Limousine offers transportation for events ranging from weddings, proms, corporate events, and wine tours. But how many can boast of clientele as elite as India’s Prime Minister and his entire cabinet?

When companies look for affiliates, they want operators who know every client matters — even more so when that client isn’t technically your own. Amar Gahunia, affiliate manager and dispatcher for Skylark Limousine, says a big part of working with affiliates is staying organized and focused on providing the best experience possible.

“Stay on top of the trip like you would with your personal clients. Keep the affiliate in the loop and updated about the run the entire time — from the assignment of the driver, to the driver being on location, to dropping the client off. This way, the affiliate can be stress free,” he says. This develops a bond of trust between you and the other operator to ensure future farm-in jobs.

Around 45-50% of the company’s work is farmed- n from affiliates it has established relationships with. They farm-out about 25-30% of their work to affiliates.

Gahunia says the main change he sees in the industry affiliating is the effects of technology. “We are in the generation where social media and other online tools are accessible within seconds. This is a world where you constantly run into multiple affiliate ads on Facebook, Yelp, and even Instagram. That’s where LCT Connect makes things easier. We are now able to scan our affiliates through their online profiles and see who fits our needs,” he explains.

Skylark Limousine signed up for the site because of the magazine’s mission to help the industry learn and grow. “When LCT Connect launched, it allowed us to meet other affiliates that are LCT approved. It’s a great platform where you can search for any affiliate, at any time. Companies have their own profiles containing all the information you would ever need: Pictures of the different vehicles in their fleet, the airports they service, their transportation license numbers, and so much more.”

The company’s fleet is up to date with the latest vehicles, including Grech Motors buses, Mercedes-Benz Executive Sprinters, a Stretch Hummer and a Lincoln MKT Town Car limo, executive Cadillac Escalades and Lincoln Navigators, and sedans.

Their chauffeurs are all drug tested and background checked, and trained quarterly to ensure they provide clients with only the best. Some of their major service areas include San Jose, San Francisco and Palo Alto.
