Uber Driver Accused Of Raping 16-Year-Old Girl

Uber Driver Arrested In Hawaii For Sexually Assaulting Teenage Passenger: Luke Wadahara, 24, was charged with first-degree sex assault, which connotes forceful penetration.

Wadahara was arrested early April 17, after the victim alleged she had been sexually assaulted during an Uber ride.

Sources said the victim is a 16-year-old girl.

She told police she ordered an Uber ride at the Ala Moana Shopping Center on the night of April 16 for her and her friends.

Wadahara allegedly dropped off her friends in Mililani, then headed toward Makiki to drop off the victim. But instead of taking her home, Wadahara allegedly made several wrong turns.

He then pulled over and allegedly attacked her. She said she eventually fought him off, then ran home.

Uber To Make Drivers In China Take Selfies To Prove Identity: Although the TNC has practices in place to conduct checks in all its markets, China is notorious for drivers faking accounts and rides — sometimes, multiple drivers share an account or unregistered drivers borrow their friends’ phones and split earnings. To counter fraud like this, the company is launching facial recognition tests for drivers in China.

The $62.5 billion company is upping its safety standards by using live face checks at the time of registration, as well as for periodic spot checks while the driver is online. When prompted, drivers will have to take selfies before continuing to pick up riders.
