Staying Small Leads To Better Personalized Service

(right) Bill Goerl, president of Clique Limousine Service
ISLIP, N.Y. — Sometimes small operators might feel intimidated when they are asked how big a fleet they have because they are afraid this will hurt the affiliate’s image of them. What potential affiliates should be asking is, “can I count on you to take care of my client?”

Bill Goerl, president of Clique Limousine Service, may have a small fleet, but the service he provides reflects the success of his company.

Unlike some businesses geared toward being worldwide, Goerl’s is a small local operation that focuses on personalized service and providing elegant, upscale new vehicles like the BMW 740Li, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GL450, and Lincoln MKT stretch.

“This enables us to focus on giving your clients the same level of service they expect in their own local area,” Goerl says.

“We’re not a high volume company, so we are a very good match for smaller operators who specialize in more individualized service.” 20% of the jobs the company takes on are farm-in, and farm-out runs make up about the same percentage.

“The recent push has been toward that worldwide, ‘we can do everything for everybody’ model of business,” he says. Goerl thinks the future trend will go back toward companies that offer service tailor-made for the consumer. “We aren’t going to be gearing our business to the Uber customer, because if you want to succeed, you have to go after the people who don’t really care what the price is but just wants outstanding service.”

Goerl wants to be there for the clients who have special requests such as bilingual chauffeurs, someone who has local knowledge and can give a tour or recommendations, specific newspapers, and favorite snacks and other refreshments. All the company’s vehicles have satellite radio and Wi-Fi hotspots as well.

“It’s been really popular in the past year or so, especially with international travelers who don’t want to use up their data or minutes, want to remain connected, and use the internet to make calls,” he says.

One thing he wants other companies looking for affiliates on LCT Connect to know is Clique Limousines doesn’t really do affiliate work where a client just needs an airport pickup.

“When someone says they have their top client coming in who wants to do something like a roadshow where they really need the chauffeur to know the city, or when there’s a demand for our type of service and you don’t know who you can trust for your best customer, with us you can call up and say, ‘Bill, you have to really take care of this guy, he’s my best client.’ You’ll be able to speak to the chauffeur directly whether it’s myself or one of my top people and know we’ve got your back.”
