GCLA Ready For Industry High Rollers At Casino Night

TORRANCE, Calif. — The Greater California Livery Association (GCLA) is taking reservations and sponsorships for its seventh annual Casino Night fundraiser to be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at Penske Cadillac of South Bay in Torrance.

Hosted by GCLA 1st Vice President and Orange County operator Kevin Illingworth, the event opens at 4:30 p.m. with the tournament starting at 6:30 p.m. Games include blackjack, poker, roulette, and the big wheel. Admission tickets start at $35 to watch the action, dinner, and two drink tickets; $50 for re-buys and add-ons; and $125 for food and two drink tickets and buy-ins for $2,500 in chips.

The tournament winner gets a 55-inch flat screen TV courtesy of Grech Motors.

At last year’s tournament, about 85 operators and vendors played at blackjack, poker and roulette tables and participated in a silent auction to raise $17,000 minus event costs for the association’s lobbying efforts in Sacramento.

The event also provides an opportunity to meet and mingle with the Torrance-based LCT Magazine editorial team of Martin Romjue, Lexi Tucker, and Jim Luff.

Many Good Reasons To Register Now For LCT East

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The time has come to catch the wave of success! Registration for the 2017 LCT-NLA Show East has officially opened. The event, held Nov. 5-7 at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, proves time and again it’s the best limo show for your buck.

The lowest pass rates for attendees are being offered now in August. Rates will go up each month leading up to the show, so it’s best to sign up early.

New this year: Hotel room and full show pass bundles are available in limited supply for a limited time. Two nights at Harrah’s Resort, two dinners, and other meals are included in the full pass price. It’s hands down the best deal since LCT and the NLA launched the East Show in 2013.

GCLA Plans Three Regional Meetings Next Month

LOS ANGELES — The Greater California Livery Association returns with its regional meeting format next month to reach more members where they’re at.

While geared toward a specific area, each meeting still offers an agenda of interest to members and operators statewide. Attendance is free at all meetings which include appetizers and cash bar.

Virginia Operators Recognized For Association Excellence

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Before the Operator of the Year Awards, National Limousine Association President Gary Buffo and executive director Sarah Gazi presented the first joint LCT-NLA Association Award of Excellence, which recognizes a state or local industry trade association for its membership, advocacy, and overall efforts on behalf of the chauffeured transportation industry.

SANDS EXPO, Las Vegas — Anticipation was palpable as operators sipped complementary cocktails and chatted over delectable dinners while waiting to hear if their names would be called during the 2017 Operator of the Year Awards, held March 14 during the International LCT Show in the Sands Expo.

A panel of six independent judges scored two to four finalists in each category on a scale of 1-10 each in the following ar­eas: Customer service, technology, safe­ty/insurance, chauffeur training, media/ marketing, and community/industry in­volvement. The highest scorer out of a maximum of 60 points became the winner.

Among the winners were unexpected newcomers and returning OOY winning alumni Eric Devlin and Harry Dhillon.

A total of 17 finalists for the above awards were selected from a wider pool of applicants, who submitted forms and supporting materials through LCT’s on­line portal.

Pre-Show Golf Tourney To Raise Funds For Industry Charity

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — International LCT Show attendees will get a chance to enjoy some desert sunshine and a day of golf before hitting the Sands Expo for the world’s largest limousine trade show.

The 1st Annual Official Vegas Invitational will be held Sunday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m.  at the Revere Golf Glub, 2600 Hampton Dr., Henderson, Nev. Cost is $125 without club rentals and $175 with club rentals. Fees include green fees, cart, practice balls, two sleeves of balls, bottled water in ice coolers, food, and beverages. Sponsorships are also available.

Money raised will got to the Harold Berkman Memorial Fund and the Limo Patriot Ride, the two leading limousine industry charities.

Mastering Bus Service And Making More Money At It

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Two bus sessions desgined to help limo operators better understand motorcoach service while find more revenue with it will be held during the International LCT Show March 13-15.

Both sessons are sponsored by the American Bus Association. The Show is being held at the Sands Expo between the Palazzo and Venetian Resort Casinos in Las Vegas.

The first one, Mastering the Day-to-Day Challenges of the Bus Industry, will be held Tuesday, March 14 from 10:50 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will cover multiple aspects of operations, including mechanics, insurance, and how to enter and stay in the bus market. Moderated by Tom Holden, operations manager for Rose Chauffeured Transportation in Charlotte, N.C., the panel includes Gary Buffo, CEO of Pure Luxury Transportation Petaluma, Calif. and the NLA President; David Glazier, CEO of Fleet Transportation in Alexandria, Va.; and Jeff Greene, CEO of Greene Worldwide Transportation in Atlanta.

A second session, Capitalizing on Every Revenue Opportunity in Your Market, will be held Wednesday, March 15 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Also moderated by Holden, the panel will focus on how to develop the business business and tap into the events and culture in a local area, such as concerts, wine tours, universities, senior groups, and corporate. Panelists include Dave Brown of Premiere Transportation of Albany, N.Y.; Jennifer Buffo of Pure Luxury Transportation; and George Jacobs, CEO of Windy City Limousine.
