Trump Travel Ban Could Deter Business-Related Trips

After spurring protests, drawing international outrage, and creating mass confusion over the weekend, President Donald Trump’s edict temporarily banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries is causing some companies to rethink business trips.

According to a survey conducted by the Association of Corporate Travel Executives, 36% of respondents said their company would reduce travel “somewhat.” A smaller number — 3% — said travel would drop significantly.

Uber Teaming Up With Mercedes-Benz Self-Driving Cars

Last year, Uber struck up with Volvo, which built the TNC’s autonomous tech into a fleet of XC90 SUVs for testing in Pittsburgh and San Francisco (until the California DMV kicked it out). But the Daimler deal marks a new approach for Uber. Until now, its public plan called for stuffing its homegrown tech into vehicles built by an established manufacturer like Volvo, then deploying it. Such a move eliminates the driver, letting Uber keep the entire fare.

MLOA To Celebrate Fifth Anniversary At International LCT Show

Marking its fifth anniversary representing minority  operators across the country, the Minority Limousine Operators of America (MLOA) will hold its membership meeting in Las Vegas at the LCT International Show Feb. 28-March 2 to celebrate its success and plan its agenda going forward.

“We are a vibrant organization and delivering what we promised when we formed,” said MLOA President Maurice Brewster (Mosaic Global Transportation) during a membership conference call meeting Jan. 27. “We set out to offer members education, networking opportunities and business connections and we have stayed true to that mission,” he added.

The MLOA held its first meeting on Feb. 16, 2011 during the International LCT Show at the Paris Las Vegas. 

Regarding its commitment to education, the MLOA will hold its membership meeting and a roundtable discussion on “Access to Capital/Financial Services” on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Representatives from financial institutions, banks and other experts will inform members on finance strategies to secure capital to invest in their operation. In addition, the MLOA will host a suite party at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino for members and prospects on Tuesday, March 1, beginning at 10:30 p.m.,following the LCT Awards Celebration.

Towne Livery Offers Luxury Upgrade On Ford Transit

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Towne Livery is offering a custom “Executive Shuttle” package on Ford Transit van models that comes with high-end leather and premium flooring options.

The exclusive offer, sold through the national chauffeured vehicle dealership, allows operator-buyers to upgrade the interiors for more of a luxury ambiance, said David Bastian, commercial sales manager of Towne Livery. The Executive Shuttle package comes with Katzkin Leather and Altro Wood Safety Flooring.

Towne Livery teamed up with Fenton Mobility and team of local vehicle accessory vendors. All companies participating in the package are based in the Buffalo, N.Y.

“When one company is working on the floor, the other company is working on the seats,” Bastian said. “I can complete a vehicle in a week to a week and a half.”

Kevin Farrell of Royal Limousine in Milwaukee, Wisc. bought Towne’s 1st customized Ford Transit from Towne after meeting with Bastian at the 2015 LCT-NLA Show East in Atlantic City. Farrell took delivery on Dec. 10, 2015.

“Kevin was involved throughout the whole process of customizing his Transit. Kevin chose to go with a Two Tone Dark Charcoal leather seating with Stone inserts & the Manor Oak floor,” Bastian said. Ford has not announced an official timetable as to the availability of OEM-installed leather seating on Ford Transits.

Two of the primary color combinations that Towne has in inventory are dark charcoal leather seats with a (brownish) Harvest Maple floor, and dark charcoal/stone two-tone leather seats and interior with a Manor Oak (dark gray) floor. The floors all feature PVC non-slip material. Depending on the options available for leather seating, the upfitted Transits start from $50,200.

“You can upgrade a Ford Transit and keep it in an affordable price range,” Bastian said. Bastian will be manning the Towne Livery exhibit booth No. 610 Feb. 29 — March 2 during the International LCT Show at the Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort in Las Vegas.

2017 Cadillac CT6 Combines Tech, Comfort And Room

It appears the 2017 Cadillac CT6 is the most luxurious Cadillac in history, according to a Yahoo Autos review. 

With a ride that is both quiet and smooth, including comfortable, spacious back seats, it looks like the new CT6 will be able to hold its own against its competitors.

Could Audi Be Working On An A8 Stretched Limousine?

Spy photographers snapped photos of a six-door Audi A8 stretched limo in Europe last week. There has been speculation that it might be a custom creation from a private company, but the photographers did notice that it was carrying Ingolstadt test plates, something that has them wondering if Audi is working on such a model.
