Both the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator are popular chauffeured vehicles, but which reigns supreme in the battle of luxury SUVs?
The Escalade features a 6.2-liter small-block V8. It puts out a stout 420 horses along with 460 lb-ft of peak torque. Maximizing its flexibility is a ratio-rich eight-speed automatic transmission. It also has a richly appointed cabin, with real metal, wood and leather. The dashboard and doors are wrapped in cut-and-sewn hides for an opulent appearance.
The Navigator’s powertrain, on the other hand, is totally different. In lieu of a big V8 it’s hauled around by a turbocharged EcoBoost V6. What it lacks in cylinder count and deep-throated rumble it more than makes up for with efficient performance. This 3.5-liter unit delivers 380 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of low-RPM twist (torque peaks at just 2,750 RPM).
