ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Focused on educating small operators, a special interactive session “Hot Topic Roundtable For Small Operators: Technology, Customer Service, And Fleet,” is slated for the upcoming LCT-NLA Show East at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City on Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 10:25 a.m.
This isn’t your traditional “sit and listen to a lecture” format: Attendees will sit at tables with other operators to discuss some very important and timely topics.
According to presenter Julie Dotan, owner of J & B Executive Transportation, Inc. in Detroit, Mich., the session will open with a discussion about fleet consistencies and how long different operators’ turnover rates are. “In regards to technology, we’ll be talking about software integration, how operators are joining or making apps, and we’ll also be touching on auto dispatch,” she says. “When it comes to customer service, we’re going to have a conversation about what kind of problems we’ve had dealing with affiliates, phone etiquette, and methods of re-confirming with your clients.”
Rick Versace, owner of A1A Airport & Limousine Service in Boca Raton, Fla., will also be presenting and says the session will cover what trends operators are seeing in the types of vehicles [not specific models or brands] being requested by clients. On the technology front, so much is changing that he wants to delve into what the benefits of changing with it are. “Our industry adapting to technology at a faster rate is really what is going to save us and keep our industry growing and thriving,” he says.
He also believes even though a lot of companies are moving toward high tech methods, companies shouldn’t eliminate the warm, fuzzy feeling one gets from providing good customer service. “Spending a little more time on the phone with your customers, calling them by name, and knowing their kids’ names; it’s the little things that make people loyal to you.”
Session take aways and benefits include:
- Gaining knowledge without the pressure of someone trying to sell you something
- Getting questions answered you may have been too worried to ask or didn’t even think about before attending the session; people feel more comfortable with letting their guard down and are typically more honest
- Learning what other companies of similar sizes are doing that might also help you
