MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Mercedes-Benz USA will make sure lunchtime on May 23 doubles as drivetime for attendees at the LCT Leadership Summit, being held at the SLS South Beach Hotel.
The Platinum-level Summit sponsor will host a luncheon from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. that will allow attendees to sample its newest line-up of chauffeured luxury vehicles. Specific Mercedes-Benz models are still pending, but Tedd Meurer, Southern Region Manager for Mercedes-Benz USA, has confirmed the new 2017 GLS SUV, the “refreshed” successor to the GL 550, will be available for test drives along with the 2016 S-550 sedan.
Likely joining the two models will be the 2017 E-Class sedan, longer and wider than its predecessors, set to be released to dealerships by late June. Mercedes-Benz is awaiting final regulatory approval, but should have one of the production versions of the E-Class at the Summit. The automaker is also working to bring the 2016 Metris minivan, known as the Viano in Europe, which entered the U.S. market in the fall of 2015.
The Metris and the GLS officially debuted to the limousine industry Feb. 29 to March 2 during the International LCT Show at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
“Ultimately, we believe these three vehicles are the ones we sell into the livery market and people will actually use,” Meurer told LCT. Mercedes-Benz would exhibit the four vehicles in the front drive of the SLS South Beach Hotel.
Mercedes-Benz also offers the larger Sprinter Van, available in all types of corporate and leisure themed interiors installed by certified coachbuilders.
The event is on track to be the largest fleet vehicle exhibit to date at the Summit, an executive leadership conference that focuses on deep topic seminars and concentrated networking. Past sponsors have brought one or two chauffeured vehicles for display. The Summit is limited to about 150 operators and sponsoring vendors.
