Air Travel Demand Rises Worldwide So Far This Year

<p>Another day, another double-decker jet full of chauffeured car users about to land.</p>Global air travel demand in January rose 7.1% year over year, the International Air Transport Association reported. Traffic on international routes rose 7.3% and was up in all regions.

Uber Appears To Be Lowballing Rider Sexual Assault Stats

How many women were raped as a result of Uber rides between December 2012 and August 2015: five or 5,827?

Those numbers aren’t even in the same ballpark, but a March 6 BuzzFeed article has left users of transportation network company app trying to make sense of the gulf between them.

Driverless Car Proves What Can Happen When No One Is Driving

<p>If a driverless car causes an accident, who ends up having to go to traffic school?</p>The driverless Lexus SUV was going very slowly, according to reports. At the end of the video, you’ll see the damage the driverless car suffered as a result of the collision.

The accident occurred as the self-driving SUV attempted to merge into a center lane. According to Google, the car expected that the bus would yield. The company updated the vehicle’s software after the incident.

Feds Propose Safety Training Standards For Motorcoach Drivers

A notice of proposed rulemaking by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, published March 7, would require drivers of school buses, public buses and motor coaches to obtain at least 15 hours of behind-the-wheel training, including at least seven hours on a driving practice range, to get a Class B commercial drivers license, the FMCSA said.

Uber Among NJ Groups Spending $16 Million On Lobbying

Uber Technologies spent more than $159,000 on lobbying in the state capital of Trenton in 2015, mostly  opposing a bill that would regulate its drivers, according to reports on the amount of money spent lobbying that were released this week by the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.

Limousine operators who compete with Uber drivers for work also opposed the measure, saying it doesn’t go far enough to level the competitive landscape.
