Limo Company That Owns Fiery Stretch Attracts Scrutiny

BOSTON — For a couple miles on May 13, a group of Natick High School students had a great ride, until suddenly flames began shooting from the front passenger seat. Video and pictures they took with their cellphones show frightening images of the limousine fully engulfed.

Ten teenagers got out unharmed. State records show the limo was registered to carry only six, avoiding the state inspections required for ten-passenger vehicles.

JetSuite To Offer Luxury Travel Between California and Vegas

The nation’s fourth largest public charter operator, JetSuite, will offer a new luxury travel option with scheduled service between Las Vegas and California starting May 26.

JetSuiteX will offer the advantage of boarding and arriving at private air terminals. The company will operate from the Atlantic Aviation terminal just off Tropicana Avenue and will fly to and from Burbank, California’s Bob Hope International Airport and the JSX Terminal in Concord, California.

“Airport congestion and worsening security delays have made short-haul air travel sometimes more of a hassle than it’s worth,” said JetSuite CEO Alex Wilcox. “In fact, between 2000 and 2014, LA-to-Las Vegas air travel lost more than 1 million enplanements to the freeways. After all, who wants to spend more time in the airport than in the air? JetSuiteX was created for people who prefer to fly but want to avoid crowded airport terminals and long security lines.”

Groupize To Simplify eRFP Process With EmailBids

Taking aim at the eRFP process, Groupize has introduced EmailBids. The small-meetings technology provider called EmailBids a “conversational commerce” tool that allows occasional meeting organizers to communicate with supplier hotels and share standardized bid information via email exchange rather than logging into a third-party RFP system.

Styled after collaboration tools like Basecamp and Slack, EmailBids sends email notifications to the meeting organizer’s inbox as bids for a single piece of business accumulate. The notification shows new activity, aggregated data and dashboards that guide decision-making. The tool allows buyers and suppliers to attach pertinent proposals, menus and contractual documents, in addition to the standardized data fields.

Leaders Seek To Speed Up Driverless Future

A group of business and former military leaders wants to limit states’ ability to regulate driverless cars, calling for sweeping federal legislation to avoid a patchwork of rules they believe could hinder adoption of the technologically advanced vehicles.

Executives including FedEx Corp. Chief Executive Fred Smith and retired U.S. generals associated with a Washington group that lobbies to reduce America’s oil dependence plan to meet with politicians in the nation’s capital on May 19 to discuss recommendations for speeding introduction of self-driving vehicles. Others expected to be present include John Krafcik, head of the self-driving car division at Google parent Alphabet Inc.
