Attorneys Want To Force Bus Company Into Bankruptcy

McALLEN, Texas — The legal battle over compensation for the more than 50 people injured and killed in a casino bus crash in May escalated July 10 when attorneys filed a petition to force the bus company into bankruptcy.

A group of attorneys, representing more than a dozen victims who were left without a share of the $5 million available through OGA Charters LLC’s insurance policy, filed an emergency motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court to freeze all the assets belonging to the company.

The emergency motion came days after two attorneys with the group settled with the insurance company taking more than $3.5 million for six of their clients, leaving more than 40 injured and five families whose loved one’s were killed to split the rest of the money.
