Two Limo Companies Drop Out Of Five-Party Suit Against Uber

Two of the five taxi and limo firms who filed a federal class action lawsuit against Palm Beach County , claiming it gives special treatment to the Uber app-based ride program, will no longer be active plaintiffs, their lawyers said this week in court documents.

Boyce Transportation, which operates A1A Airport and Limousine Service, and Prestige Limousine, said in a motion filed Wednesday that they no longer want to participate in the suit, filed in May 2015 in U.S. Circuit Court.

In their lawsuit, the two and the other three plaintiffs — North County Transportation, Apollo Transportation Services and Metro Premier Car Service – demanded monetary damages, a declaration that Uber is a vehicle-for-hire firm, and an order barring the county from “selectively enforcing the laws of the state and county applicable to plaintiffs’ business for the benefit of any (vehicle for hire) company willing to pay PBC to do so.”

Detroit Operator Sues Uber Over Alleged Racketeering

A metro Detroit limo company is suing the popular Uber ride service for alleged racketeering and claims that state transportation officials unfairly give Uber drivers a free pass on laws that traditional limo and taxi drivers must follow.

The lawsuit, filed this week in U.S. District Court in Detroit, could reignite the unsettled debate on whether smartphone-enabled ride services such as Uber and its competitor Lyft represent an evolution of the limo and taxi business or an entirely new category best left outside the current regulatory framework.

How They Build Ford Transit Vans

Ford offers its full-size Transit van in 58 configurations that would seem to thwart an efficient assembly process with its mix of wheelbases (three), body lengths (five), roof heights (three) and engines (three).

However, to watch the various configurations move toward completion on a single assembly line at the Kansas City Assembly Plant (KCAP) is to behold what may be the most complex vehicle assembly of a light-duty vehicle sold in the U.S.

How Will Luxury Services Follow The Wealth In 2016?

What are they thinking, what will they want? There is a very real chance this year that luxury brands will face hurdles in reaching the ultra wealthy.
Spending among the ultra wealthy will be challenged in 2016; it was already on a downward trend in 2015, as a result of the global economic and geopolitical environment. At the same time, people are evolving their tastes to include experiences and perhaps even favor experiences over products. However, luxury brands have not been quick to develop or expand those offerings. That poses a problem.
