Driverless Cars Just Don’t Think Like Us

No algorithm may be able to replicate the synapses of human common sense.</p>The self-driving vehicle, that cutting-edge creation that’s supposed to lead to a world without accidents, is achieving the exact opposite right now: The vehicles have racked up a crash rate double that of those with human drivers.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Albert Tracy has been driving a taxi for just four years, but he’s made an impressive mark during that time.

The white-haired, easy-speaking driver from the Valley was named national Taxicab Driver of the Year by the trade group that represents the industry, the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association.
